Sand

Bedding Sand can be used for laying pipes, water lines, etc. It is coarser than mason sand and provides good drainage.

Mason Sand can be used for masonry projects; brick and block mortar, under pool liners, and as beach sand. When used as a "joint sand" (ASTM C144) for pavers and patio blocks, it's fine texture allows it to easily fill in the joints between the pavers. Stabilizers or additional coats of mason sand may need to be added later if a loss of sand occurs due to frequent cleaning with a pressure washer or leaf blower; or if the patio is located in an area with frequent runoff.

Note: Mason Sand is not recommended for use as the base layer in brick paver or patio block installation as it will not compact as well or offer as much drainage as a coarser, more angular sand such as ASTM C33 bedding sand, crusher run, or #2 washed crushed stone.
