Decorative Stone:

Red Stone

Black Gold carries several different sizes of red landscaping stone for use in a variety of applications. Mined from naturally occurring deposits of red stone in Pennsylvania, the stone is then crushed and put through screens to sort them for size. Initially the stone will be covered with a fine “dust” from tiny fragments of stone left over from the crushing process. At first, this will give the stones a brighter red appearance (think of a picnic table or redwood deck), but as the stone is exposed to sun and rain and the dust washes off, the stones will darken in color to more of a reddish-brown or maroon color. NOTE: The larger stones tend to have more gray in them than the smaller ones do.

Small Red Stone (#1) average ½” in size Large Red Stone (#2) average 1” - 1½” in size
#4 Red Stone average 3” - 8” in size #6 Red Stone average 8” - 12” in size

White Stone

Predominantly white (with some gray) crushed stone that averages 1”-2” in size

Cream Stone

Very attractive small stone (usually 1/2” - 1” in diameter) that ranges in color from a bright round white to an orange tone. Since the stone is not crushed, the edges will be smoother making it ideal for use around pools and other areas where people will be walking barefoot.
